To show off the animated stuff I really need a video. So you tell DeskScapes to look in all your images folders on your computer or network (gotta love SkyDrive/Dropbox) and then just have it show the images that are sufficiently large enough to be used as a background. You can pause DeskScapes 8 at any time by right-clicking on the desktop and selecting Pause DeskScapes For multi-monitor setups, you can run DeskScapes on all windows or choose one for each display.

But with the effects features of DeskScapes, you can pretty much turn any graphic you have into a good background provided that it’s a sufficient resolution. DeskScapes 8 gets its name because it is made for Windows 8 systems. Most of it wasn’t even imagined as being used as a desktop background. I’ve got a lot of cool art around my machine. Very relaxing on a cold Winter morning at work. For example, I downloaded this terrific winter scene and then combined it with an animated snowfall effect. It includes a bunch of animated wallpapers and lets you use your own WMV files to personalize your desktop.

Just like other programs on this list, it allows you to animate and customize live wallpapers on your Windows 10 desktop. It supports playing video content as animated wallpaper, dynamic content as animated wallpaper, and more. DeskScapes is another great program to set dynamic wallpapers on Windows 10. DeskScapes 1.0 was released earlier this year exclusively for Windows Vista Ultimate users. Sometimes you just want to combine a wallpaper with a good effect. DeskScapes is a program that allows users of Windows Vista to have animated wallpaper on their desktop. I wanted to alter its color to something cooler (a blue-color). In this case, I downloaded a really cool background that was a bit “warm” (it was a brownish color). Of course, there are many other effects you can apply as well on the fly such as color-based ones. By fading the background to black, any icons that might be on my desktop show up and if I have a few windows up, I’m not going to be distracted by a scene peeking around their edges. It has many different filters you can dynamically apply to your desktop backgrounds.

This week DeskScapes 8 was released and while it is most famous for its ability to display animated wallpapers, I personally think of the animated wallpapers as an additional perk on top of the fact that it’s a really awesome way to manage and enhance normal Windows desktop backgrounds.
